I am full of great ideas you know so you never know, you might need my help again :)

I found your story after you'd already concluded it, and just finished reading it yesterday. I've read HUNDREDS of Survival Horror novels, and even more online works in said genre. AUD is and has been absolutely first-rate, and I want to thank you again for the amazing work you've crafted here.

I totally get the ending, and it makes perfect sense. Whether Adrian could TRULY lay the past to rest after learning from it, and succeed in doing the same to his inner demons so he could become the man his potential indicated he had inside him was always the crux of the test, and I believe you illustrated that beautifully. If I had one complaint it would be the almost simpleminded and/or quasi-child-like demeanor Adrian adopted as Evil Cassandra attempted to sway him. I felt that more pain, more "brokenness" in that raw moment could've been slightly more in tune with the scene you'd set and the atmosphere being conveyed. That's a minor complaint in the grand scheme of things, as this story and its ending had real power.

Don't know what else to say, other than I look forward to your future works with anticipation Chris. Bravo!

As for Cassie. I have a feeling she might have made it out. She could have been with Steve but he got bit and killed himself before she left.

I can be fairly critical, being somewhat of a scribbler myself. But this was a tale well told. It takes a good writer to get me involved and give a damn about the characters and what happens to them. I've had some seriously ratcheted up tension and redlined adrenaline times while reading this. Thankfully I'm medicated so I could sleep those nights, LOL. 

I will be recommending this to others.

All that aside and after re-reading the entire journal I have a final review. The story is fantastic, the mix of real survival and super natural was a great mix. Chris did a great job of really making our hero personable and the very unlikely hero. I really enjoyed the not far fetched preparations he started with and seeing the day to day struggle for something as common as a few cans of food or a partial box of ammunition. He kept us on our toes with the occasional killing off of a character he had gotten us to love, breaking our hearts and forcing us to come back for more, just to ensure our "friends" were surviving. As I got caught up with the journal, every day I saw a new entry, it was the best part of my day. 

Now, for the bad. The ending felt rushed. It reads like Chris had grown bored with this story, but knew you had us for the long haul and didn't want to leave us hanging. While theres no true loose ends there were side stories that could have been explored and Chris did a great job having us anticipated them, but with it ending as it did, it again felt rushed.

Overall the best zombie fiction I've ever read, topped off with an ending that's pure genius. I am still recommending this to my friends ever chance I get. I look forward to reading Chris' next work and can hope to see this journal, possibly combined with some of the other fan fiction published one day in a great big tale of the zombie apocalypse and the trinity .

@tgreening: haha agreed. I thought it was a great move by Chris to transition to the future but NOT give us closure so that we will be wanting more AUD in the future. WE CAN'T MOVE ON! And I hate most open endings, but only when there is no plan for continuation in the future. This just gives me hope that one day I will be able to return to the great world that Chris has created.
